COMMON QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q.
Should I fit a new torque converter when my
transmission is overhauled?
A. Yes. There are several components that can wear in a torque converter and
there are also areas for debris to collect which can result in repeat transmission
failure.

Q. Do I need to run a kickdown lever on my Ford C4 or C6?
A. No. It is kickdown only and will not affect the pressure in the transmission.

Q.
How often should I change my transmission fluid?
A. Some modern manufacturers say that it is sealed for life. The problem being
that as particles collect in the oil it will wear transmission faster, therefore
if the oil is changed every 15,000-20,000 miles the transmission life will be
extended.

Q. Do I need an extra oil cooler?
A. An extra oil cooler is a good idea. A lot of transmission failures result
from overheating, especially when the vehicle is used for towing or in racing
applications.
